Merchant Category Codes (MCCs)

The Merchant Category Codes page displays a searchable list of MCCs used by Olive. These codes help categorize businesses based on the type of goods or services they provide and are used in transaction data to identify merchant type.

What are MCCs?

MCCs are four-digit codes assigned to merchants by credit card networks (like Visa, Mastercard, etc.). Each code corresponds to a specific merchant category—such as veterinary services, electrical contractors, or grocery stores.

These codes are used to:

  • Filter or qualify transactions for rewards

  • Categorize purchases by merchant type

  • Power logic in card-linked offer programs

Important Notes

  • The list shown here reflects Olive’s MCC reference list, which is subject to change.

  • MCC definitions can vary slightly between card networks or data providers. Even if a merchant falls under a different category elsewhere, Olive uses this list as the standard for evaluating and categorizing transactions within the platform.

You can use the search bar to locate MCCs by code or description.
